GARDEN SLING

Any version of this classic Raffles Hotel cocktail will follow a standard formula of gin, citrus, sweetener, and soda. Those in the know will undoubtedly tell you that its key ingredient is the combination of flavours, which is the most important part of the sling's appeal. By adding our Loquat Gin to the mix, this ain't a garden variety sling. Despite its name, of course.

10ml Brandy
50ml Pineapple Juice
15ml Lime Juice
5ml Grenadine
Soda

  1. Add first four ingredients to an ice-filled cocktail shaker.
  2. Shake and strain into an ice-filled hurricane glass.
  3. Top with soda and grenadine and give a little stir.
  4. Garnish with lime wedge and cherry.

LOQUAT SIDECAR

Legend has it that the Sidecar has its origins at Buck's Club in London, invented by Pat MacGarry. Others believe it was created at the famous Harry's Bar in Paris, requested by an Army Captain who rode up to the bar in the sidecar of a motorcycle. A lesser known version of the term is the idea that when your bartender gets the quantities wrong, overshooting the mark and leaving a bit left over in the shaker, those extra remnants can be poured into a small glass on the side. That little glass is called a sidecar, into a companion starter? Adding Loquat gin to this mix gives us a zesty new spin on the sidecar, and is most definitely something worth talking about.
