Edition No.25 - Sakura

Edition No.25 - Sakura

We could be wrong, but we might have just come up with the ultimate reason to learn a new language. You guessed it, gin. Because that’s exactly where our Sakura Gin began. A learning of the Japanese language. Then a visit to the land to be immersed in its beautiful scenery. A sip of its famous tea. And a drink or two(ish) of its plum wine. This is a gin that is as floral and delicate in its taste as the cherry blossoms which inspired it, with a sweet and yet tart fruitiness that lingers long enough for you to sign-up for that language class.

Signature Serve:

Fever-Tree Indian Tonic with a plum wedge

Rising Plum

September is home to one of our favourite celebrations - Negroni Week. Yep, it’s a beverage that deserves to have an entire week dedicated to it, so naturally this month’s edition features a twist on this classic cocktail. To complement the delicate palate of our Sakura Gin and tap into its Japanese roots, we replaced the customary sweet vermouth with the traditional plum wine Umeshu to create a lighter Negroni with a unique bitter balance.

INGREDIENTS:
30ML SAKURA GIN

30ML CHOYA UME LIQUEUR
20ML CAMPARI
GARNISH: SLICE OF PLUM

METHOD:
1. Add all ingredients to an ice-filled mixing glass.

2. Stir gently to combine.
3. Strain into an ice-filled old fashioned glass and garnish.

The Blossom

The Martinez was first. This combination of gin, vermouth and bitters with a little splash of maraschino is affectionately known as the ‘Father’ of that icon of the cocktail world - the Martini. And whilst the Martinez might not be as well known as its descendant the Martini, it is the inspiration behind The Blossom. So with a lineage like that, there’s not much left to say except that this drink is as deliciously sophisticated and delightfully boozy as you’d expect.

60ML SAKURA GIN
20ML MAIDENII CLASSIC VERMOUTH
10ML FRESH MANDARIN JUICE
2 DASHES PEYCHAUD BITTERS
