Edition No.49 - Halloween Harvest

Americans know nothing of the idea of eating roasted pumpkins for dinner. To them, it’s all potatoes and turkeys and fireworks. Pumpkin is strictly reserved for pies and heavily sweetened Starbucks beverages in the US, until Halloween rolls around, when those folks get a-carvin’. The association between pumpkins and Halloween can be traced back to Irish immigrants, who brought the tradition of carving jack-o'-lanterns to America in the late 1800s, having traditionally carved demonic faces into turnips or potatoes, in line with the myth of scaring away Stingy Jack's wandering soul. Pumpkins, it turns out, were easier to carve and more plentiful in the new world, and necessity being the mother of invention and all. Anyhow, this gin brings roasted pumpkin to your glass!
